12/12/23 Unit 3- Final project

https://youtu.be/BckCck497NI?si=cuZ5i3OjRMVLzCcz For my Unit 3 project, I decided to focus on my high school experience and the soccer club I joined during that time. The previous club I attended was either too distant or required a higher skill level. However, my mom discovered the Andy Chen Academy, now known as Athletic Club Taipei, and I eagerly anticipated joining them. I felt nervous when I learned about the tryouts for the club. Upon making the team, I quickly noticed the skill gaps between me and the other players. Simultaneously, I began trying out for my high school soccer team. Spending the entire summer playing soccer, I was thrilled to learn that I had made the Varsity team as a freshman—a rare accomplishment. Making the varsity team compelled me to dedicate more time to the game. Not only did my confidence start to improve, but my skills also underwent significant development. This experience taught me that through hard work and a commitment to achieving goals, succ...

I was born in Taiwan, and I never thought I would leave that place. My experience of relocating from Taiwan to Beijing, due to my parents' job, highlights a significant moment of tension in my life. In Taiwan, the culture served as a powerful lens through which to examine different values, beliefs, languages, and ways of life.  Moving to Beijing made me realize that I was unfamiliar with my own identity, primarily due to the tension between Taiwan and China. I needed to adapt to the new environment and the cultural changes associated with living in Beijing. My journey began when my parents moved to Beijing for their jobs. Beijing is a city with a rich history and culture. I will talk about my journey of moving to Beijing and explore some moments of tension that I faced during my time there.  This move was unexpected and came as a surprise. At the age of five, I was enjoying my life in Taiwan, attending kindergarten and making new friends. Then, one day, my parents infor...

Library

My story with the library is one of long-lasting companionship. From the moment I first entered a library as a child, it was initially a bit intimidating, but it soon became a place where I felt a sense of belonging. Through my journey with literature, the library has become a testament to the power of community knowledge. When I first entered elementary school, gathering with my entire class in the library could be tense and even a little scary at times. However, my curiosity helped me overcome my initial fear of being in the library. Surrounded by rows and rows of shelves filled with books, each holding a world of knowledge, adventure, and discovery, I quickly embraced the library's allure. As I grew, the library transformed into a sanctuary for studying and relaxation. It was no longer a place of tension and fear but rather one where I felt welcomed by the community and the librarians. Studying and acquiring new knowledge in the library became a regular part of my life. Being i...

Unit 1 Project

At a young age, my parents wanted me to play basketball as that is the sport my dad and mom played. I played when I was 5, but I did not enjoy it as much. So, I started to play soccer at the age of 6, but it took me a long time to convince my parents as they both wanted me to stick with basketball and not soccer.  After convincing them that I wanted to play soccer, it was very hard learning a sport that I had never played before or seen. So, initially adapting to the sport and fitting into the soccer community proved to be a challenge. I switched between several soccer clubs in Beijing as I was eager to find the one that suited me best and would help me improve as a player. However, this constant change made it difficult for me to form lasting friendships with the teams, and it even made me consider quitting the sport altogether.  After jumping around in several clubs I joined Sports Beijing, I remained with the club for 5 years, and I finally felt like I belonged in th...
