  I began playing soccer at the age of 6, but it took me a long time to convince my parents to let me choose soccer over basketball.  Initially, adapting to the sport and fitting into the soccer community proved to be challenging.        I was born in Taiwan, so I never thought I would leave that place. My experience of relocating from Taiwan to Beijing, due to my parents' job, highlights a significant moment of tension in my life. In Taiwan, the culture served as a powerful lens through which to examine different values, beliefs, languages, and ways of life.  Moving to Beijing made me realize that I was unfamiliar with my own identity, primarily due to the tension between Taiwan and China. The previous club I attended was either too distant or required a higher skill level. However, my mom discovered the Andy Chen Academy, now known as Athletic Club Taipei, and I eagerly anticipated joining them. I felt nervous when I learned about the tryouts for the club. Upon making the team, I quickly noticed the skill gaps between me and the other players. Simultaneously, I began trying out for my high school soccer team. Spending the entire summer playing soccer, I was thrilled to learn that I had made the Varsity team as a freshman—a rare accomplishment.
